GEORGE, Percy Douglas (79) Little Dover, Guysborough Co. It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Percy Douglas George passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso, with his loving family by his side. Born in Canso on June 4, 1939, he was the eldest son of the late Frederick and Leona (Newell) George. Percy worked as a qualified fish cutter in Port Bickerton, Mulgrave and Canso for many years. He enjoyed a good game of cards with his wife and many friends. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Agnes Parish, Little Dover. Percy was a kind-hearted man who was always willing to help anyone in his community. He volunteered on many committees: the Little Dover Fire Dept., St. Agnes Parish Council, Little Dover Community Development Association and donated a lot of his time to the Black Duck Cove Project. He was awarded the Representative Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Marie (Bouchie) of 57 years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and uncle to his family. He is survived by his wife Marie, sons, Steve (Valda), Lesterdale; Mike, Little Dover; two grandchildren whom he adored, Nathaniel, Guysborough and Amy Leigh, Lesterdale; brothers, Gordon (Noreen), Jerry (Heather), both of Canso; sisters, Laurena, Enfield; Shirley, Canso; Freda (the late Joe Konning), Ontario; Pam (Tony Bailey), Glace Bay; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Nina (late Jud Feltmate); brother, Freeman (late Pierenna). We would like to acknowledge the late Harry and Lucy Horne and family who were Percy’s extended family. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff of Eastern Memorial Hospital and the home care staff for all the care and compassion that they showed Percy. God Bless you all.
