Ole Nelson

RED BAR NELSON, Ole -- 90, Springville,
Formerly of Lower Caledonia, died March 29, 1998,
at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, June and Ken MacLean, Bridgeville.
Born in Hovin, Norway,
he came to Canada and settled in Lower Caledonia
and later moved to Pictou County, where he resided for several years.
He was a woods contractor for many years.
He later joining Stora Forest Industries and was instrumental in starting Stora's first silviculture programs, where he worked until his retirement.
He helped plant the 100-millionth tree for Stora in September 1995.
Surviving are daughters,
June (Mrs. Ken MacLean) Bridgeville;
Jessie (Mrs. Billy MacDonald) Glenelg;
Margie, Sechelt, B.C.;
Son, Donald, Bathurst, N.B.;
18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
a great-great-granddaughter;
brother, Halvor;
sister, Annie, both of Hovin;
a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Alice Ross; sons, Albert, Calvin; sisters, Sigrid, Aslaugh; brother, Nils, Sven; grandson, Ricky.
Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in Glenelg Presbyterian Church, Trudy Meyer officiating.
Burial in Cumminger Cemetery, Lower Caledonia.
Donations to any charity.
