From The Novascotian, 1 Feb 1838, held at PANS
Died, At Guysboro', on the 7th inst.
after an illness of nearly 8 weeks, Mr John McKeogh,
aged 71 years. The deceased was a native of
Middleton, Connecticut, in the United States,
but resided here for the last 40 years.
The goodness of his disposition, his agreeable manners,
and proverbial hospitality, endeared him to a
large circle of friends and acquaintances, who testified their esteem
of his character and regret for his loss, by following his remains to the grave.
Mr McK. had been educated in the principles of the Roman Catholic Church,
but a few days prior to his death, he embraced the Protestant faith;
received the holy sacrament from the Wesleyan Missionary, residing here,
and departed this life, leaving the most satisfactory evidence
that he died "the death of the righteous."
